The AF-B-STEP consortium brings together a unique public–private partnership of leading academic institutions, clinical experts, patient organisations, health insurers, and industry innovators across Europe and beyond. University hospitals and research centres (University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Maastricht University, Imperial College London, McMaster University) contribute world-class expertise in atrial fibrillation research, clinical trials, data science, and health economics. Industry partners provide important complementary strengths: medical device leaders (Medtronic, Biotronik, Boston Scientific) provide deep knowledge of implantable monitoring technologies, digital health and wearable innovators (Withings, Preventicus, Medicalgorithmics) contribute consumer and intermittent monitoring expertise, and pharmaceutical and biotech companies (Novartis, Acesion, Thryv Therapeutics) add experience in drug development, trials, and patient-reported outcomes. Specialist networks and societies (Atrial Fibrillation Network, European Society of Cardiology) ensure strong clinical guidance, patient involvement, and rapid translation into guidelines. Data integration and governance are led by experts in secure health data management (IDM, Techniker Krankenkasse) and professional project coordination (concentris). Together, the consortium combines scientific excellence, technological innovation, regulatory insight, and patient perspectives to deliver results with real-world impact.
