About ESC
The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) is a leading non-profit scientific society dedicated to reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease, the world’s number one cause of death, by advancing research, education, clinical standards and heart-health policy across the full spectrum of cardiology. It unites tens of thousands of cardiovascular healthcare professionals and National Cardiac Societies from around the world to share evidence-based science, publish widely recognised ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines, organise influential congresses, and provide education, training, and professional support for clinicians, nurses, and allied specialists.
The ESC’s Patient Engagement Initiative ensures that people living with cardiovascular disease are active contributors to the society’s work – from guideline development and educational resources to advocacy and clinical congress sessions – fostering person-centred care, shared decision-making, and better health outcomes by incorporating lived experience into ESC activities and priorities.
