The global AF-B-STEP project started on 1 January 2026. Atrial fibrillation (AF) affects millions of people worldwide and is still too often treated as a simple “yes” or “no” diagnosis. AF-B-STEP is here to change that. This ambitious Innovative Health Initiative (IHI)-funded collaboration of 18 consortium partners across Europe and North America brings together hospitals, universities, industry, patient organisations, and healthcare payors to quantify the burden of AF more precisely and translate that knowledge into improved screening, treatment, and health policy.
