The AF-B-STEP Steering Committee (SC) will convene for its 2nd SC Meeting from 10:00-12:00 on Sunday, 30 August, (Room: ESC MR B32, exclusively for consortium members) in Munich, Germany, alongside the annual ESC Congress 2026 – the world’s foremost cardiology meeting, to present progress, discuss data, and define next steps.
Later that day, AF-B-STEP will also be featured in the Special Session “Multimorbidity in elderly patients with atrial fibrillation: focus on AFFIRMO, EHRA-PATHS, and AF-B-STEP” (16:15–17:15, Hall B1, Room: Tripoli, open to all registered ESC Congress attendees). The session will dive into the clinical and health-economic burden of atrial fibrillation (AF) and highlight advances in integrated care and research across several European projects.
A particular highlight will be the presentation by Prof. Renate B. Schnabel (UKE) at 16:45, entitled “Atrial fibrillation burden: how to measure it and how to use it”. The talk will address one of the project’s central research themes – improving the measurement of AF burden and how to develop more personalised care for better patient outcomes.
